So here goes number 1!

The super easy vest!

So i have currently gone DIY mad!!!

I'm not sure why maybe its inspiration from some amazing blogs, or maybe its lack of money & a little bit of extra time who knows but I'm loving it & cant wait to bring you more & more simple DIY's in the future.

Now when i say simple this vest is the best example of it, i got the idea from here but with no instruction on how to do it i set out to make my own flying blind

So here it is, hope you enjoy the results as much as i do.

First take some fabric (i used 1 metre which worked fine for me but any width will be fine its up to you) i layed mine out on the floor because if you cant tell by my last DIY its my favourite spot to work. Make sure its flat & crease free
I placed a pin in the centre of the fabric to give me a point to measure from (you don't wont uneven arms)
Then i measured the back of one of my cardigans (so from armpit to armpit) to work out where i needed to place the pins for the arm holes

Then i needed to gage a idea of how much over hang i wanted at the front of my vest, this does not need to be exact but i wanted to make sure i left enough (more is better than less.

So i cut hole where my armpit pins where, gaging how large they needed to be by how i wanted it to sit on my shoulders.

The final piece, it looks so good & made out of the right fabric will be sooo warm, mine lands just on my bum with some panels that hang a little lower but i think it looks great & with this one being mustard (one of my favourite colours) its so on trend.

Costs:

Fabric: $3.50

Time:

30mins (or less)
Difficulty: easy

P.s If you make one of these please email me a pic i would love to feature yours on here.

A guest post for the lovely Lauren

Hi everyone, today i was featured on the fabulous Lauren Loves blog but unfortunately my pictures did not appear in the scheduled post.
So because i cant go & change it on Lauren site i thought i would show you here (also thanks to the people who emailed me once they saw it).
Hi everyone I'm Alex, the creative mind (that may be a stretch) behind Life after 20. My blog is based around my whole life & this includes what i wear on a daily basis so one of my features i do is a "10 ways to wear" & at the moment i am sporting this AMAZING lime green vintage maxi (well on me anyway) skirt that i thrifted for a hefty £1
To date i have worn it 6 different ways (well 7 if you include this one) with the challenge being to make it a totally different outfit every time, to mix up the seasons & to just generally push my own fashion boundaries.
Anyway onto this outfit, this is a super casual way of wearing the skirt, its also a great representation of how you can mix a vintage skirt with some cheap Primark pieces for a great on trend outfit. Also pairing the navy blue with the green is a very subtle way of colour blocking with the jacket adding warmth (cause this is the UK you know!) but also giving it a edge!
What I'm wearing:
Skirt - Thrifted vintage.
Singlet/vest - Primark
Denim jacket - Primark.
I would wear this outfit shopping, to wonder around town, out for a meal, really anywhere!
What do you think of this combo? Where would you wear it?

So I'm now on my 6th outfit (see the others here!), this one is more of a winter outfit using one of my FAVE scarfs (even if its from Primark).

The other thing i love about this outfit is the mix of vintage and very cheap accessories to make a super cute outfit.

I think i could wear this to any casual event.

What is the 100 day outfit challenge?

Recently i have been asked "what is the 100 day outfit challenge" i have also found alot of people googling it and finding my blog so let me explain.

The 100 day outfit challenge is a Youtube based outfit of the day challenge started by (i believe) Nadine the idea is that you don't buy any clothing or accessories for a total of 100 days and you make a different outfit every day and do a video for Youtube.

This is not only a way of saving money but also a way of using the items in your wardrobe and weeding out the things you don't wear.

Currently the people i am watching do this is Jeni and fashionschooldropout and obviously i am doing it to.

I think all three of us have broken the rules once during this challenge but its ok (its bloody hard).

I personally changed the idea a little, i decided not to buy ANYTHING no makeup, no clothing NOTHING and I'm also doing it in 2 parts one part here in the UK to show of my wardrobe here and then the other back home in Australia to show that off.

It is a very difficult challenge 100 days is a long time but its also great fun and i would love to see any and all of you ladies do it.

1 skirt 10 ways, #4

Here goes number 4 of my 10 ways outfits (1, 2, 3) i really enjoyed styling these outfits and think they have all come together really well.

This look below i love, its a very casual day look that i have wore many times.

Although the nude singlet/vest is very muted against the skirt adding the floral cardi makes sure I'm not to washed out.
Skirt: Thrifted vintage.
Singlet: Primark
Cardi: Cotton on.

1 Skirt 10 ways, outfit #3

Hi folks,

Here is outfit number 3 of my 10 ways with the ones skirt (find 1 & 2 by clicking on them!)

I was wearing this top when i bought this skirt and was pleasantly surprised when i teamed the two together that they went quiet well together.
I feel that this button up men's top goes really well with the skirt and adds a masculine touch to this very feminine skit.

I would wear this outfit very casually. Maybe thrifting or going to a market.

Shirt: Cotton on mens (Australia)

Pin: Kenzie and Coco (Forster Australia)

Skirt: (Thrifted Vintage)

What do you think of this combo?

1 skirt 10 ways, outfit #2

So here is look number 2 (if you haven't seen one find it here!)

I always worry about teaming a vintage blouse with a vintage skirt or dress with jacket (you get the idea) for fear of looking like i have just walked out of my nans closet.

But in saying that i like this mix, the soft top teams nicely with the structured pleats of the skirt and i like this outfit all round.

I would wear this to something that requires a little more of a dressy feel than the previous outfit like say a christening or a lunch date.

Cream blouse -thrifted
(maybe not my best angle)

What do you think of this one? Where would you wear it?

1 skirt 10 ways, outfit #1

Let me explain the concept here, i bought this skirt for £1.00 from a thrift shop right by where i live. It is the most amazing shade of green EVER and is a really nice satin feel with a elastic waist and flowing pleats.

I am also at this current moment doing a 100 day outfit challenge on youtube, so basically i am not shopping and am making a different outfit everyday out of the clothing i have (i am doing 50 days here in the UK and then 50 when I's back in Australia).

So (getting to the point) i decided to make 10 different outfits using this one skirt and document them here for you on my blog.

So lets get started with on of Summers biggest trends and one i was dying to try out COLOUR BLOCKING!!!

You can see I'm wearing a fuschia singlet/vest, a oatmeal cardi.

I really hope you enjoy this series and please tell me what you think of my outfits!
